MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2022
I participated in the Microsoft Office Specialist championship sponsored by ACTA – A Spin-off company of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, partner of Certiport in Greece and won Second place and the Silver Medal, in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365 Apps and Office 2019).
"In its 20th year, the World Championships attracted more than 850,000 students from 120 countries. The students, aged 13 to 22, competed against their peers to demonstrate their superior skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, culminating in the ever-popular Global Final technology skills in Microsoft Office – and the only one approved by Microsoft since 2002".
During the first phase of the competition, students were certified as Microsoft Office Specialists to demonstrate their knowledge of Microsoft Office Technology.
Based on their scores, 100 students (33 in Excel, 33 in Word and 34 in Power Point) were qualified for the regional competition.
Greece's three representatives for the World Championship took 1st place, in their corresponding section, in the Greek National Competition held at the "Tower of Books" of the National Library of Greece at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, in Athens last May.
The exam consisted of one project with 30 tasks that had to be completed in 30 minutes.
Regional competitions were held worldwide and 95 students from 21 countries qualified to participate in the final phase of the competition held at Disneyland, Anaheim, California, USA on July 24-27.
In the final phase, the contestants participated in a two-part skills show. The first part was a 50-minute timed exam. The second part was a three-hour research project, in which students were asked to research their topic, formulate an opinion and represent their conclusions and research in a way suitable for the computer program of the competition (Word report, Excel workbook, or PowerPoint presentation). This is the second year the finalists have had to complete a free-form project.
